3 TIPS TO ROCK YOUR AT HOME ENGAGEMENT SESSION
There is something so intimate and honest about an at-home session that I love. The comfort of your client’s own home makes them feel relaxed and laid-back, and that’s the reason why at home sessions have become so popular. Today, I want to share three tips on how to prepare for your at home session.
1. CREATE TRUST
I believe that trust between a photographer and a couple is the most important aspect of my job. Just be yourself…there is a reason why they hired you to be their photographer. People are like a mirror. If you will be open with them, they will be open with you as well.
2. PREPARE YOUR COUPLE
Before any photo session, it’s important for your couple to know how the shoot will go and what to expect. I always plan to arrive earlier, so we have some time to chat. Before the session, I ask my couples to write love notes to each other. It gives me some cute moments to shoot while they read them during the session. Win-win! Also, I have them turn on some of their favorite music.
3. LIGHT
I have my couples send me some a few snaps of their home at different times of the day beforehand to see how the natural lighting is. When I arrive, I’ll turn off any lights in the room and I’ll make sure that I have all the windows fully opened. The outdoor and indoor lights have a different temperature and it can create a weird skin tone. Also, don’t be scared to bring up your ISO!
